I can’t stand “pop’ music in this generation, its phony, lyrics are all the same, and are sung by people who are not artists and have no appreciation for what music really is. Kate Bush is a musician, and an incredible one. There is no musician out there who has had a greater impact on me than Kate Bush. Her songs are a handcrafted piece of art that I deeply appreciate. The lyrics of her songs, each one, tells a different story like the song “Wuthering Heights” that was based on a famous book, and Kate wrote that song when she was only 15. That song is more than amazing and she wrote that at 15, that is talent. 15 year old singers now sing about girls, girls, and more girls (talking more of the males). Could you imagine someone writing a song like that now at 15? Yeah, it wouldn’t make headlines and It wouldn’t be recognized. That’s something I hate about our society, real music has lost its meaning. Every single song she writes has meaning, it has depth, and is well thought. She is pop music in the 80’s, try releasing her music now in 2012… what do you think? Would It make it? No, course not. This generation doesn’t wanna hear music about life, and different stories. They wanna her songs about boys, girls, parties, drugs, sex, and whatever else. Kate Bush has talent, and now if the world could see music for the way its meant to be..

Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains) by The Arcade Fire. 

This song, I can’t even describe how much I love it. There is not one word I can find that can describe how I feel when I listen to it. The band is also amazing and so gifted, their lyrics and tune of each song is so different but done so incredibly well. 

The lyrics are extremely well written and actually have meaning to them! This song is about how the world has changed, how we are surrounded by suburbs, shopping malls, big corporations, nature and the humanity is dying. The line “They heard me singing and they told me to stop, quit these pretentious things and just punch the clock” I interpreted this to mean our society is lacking creativity and we are told to keep our imagination to ourselves, and how we all need to work ( hence, “punch the clock”). Another line I love is “Sometimes I wonder if the world’s so small, that we can never get away from the sprawl”. Sprawl basically means “modern society” and how the person in the song is trying to escape it. However, the song is sung in such a way that its happy and exciting as if she is accepting and embracing living in the sprawl. I think the whole song is telling us that the hope for sprawl is irrepressible. Anyways, I think this song and the meaning are perfect and definitely check the song out.

The music industry is ridiculous. TV and radio promote so called “artists” and award shows award these people with awards they do not deserve. What you hear on the radio is not real music, and the people who sing the songs are not real artists, and they also do not write their own music. I’m talking about singers like Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, and the other singers like that. Notice how I used the word “singers” and not “artists” because they are not artists. Artists are people who WRITE their own music, and usually PLAY their on instruments, and the lyrics to their songs actually MAKE SENSE. Their are so so so many true artists out there who work so much harder working on their own music, than the singers that I mentioned above. The people who are at the top don’t belong there.
